Susan L. Schoenbeck, RN, MSN
Susan L. Schoenbeck, MSN, RN is a master’s prepared nurse educator. Her professional background includes critical care nursing, university nursing education and administration, along with a clinical specialty of death and spiritual care. She gives presentations to polio survivor groups around the globe thereby helping polio survivors ease unexpected late symptoms of poliomyelitis. At age 7 months, Schoenbeck was taken from her father’s arms and placed in an iron lung. Doctors said she would never walk. Her Dad took her to a weedy old lake and taught her how to swim. Eventually, she walked albeit wobbly with a brace. Her education and experiences as a nurse taught her how to help other polio survivors.
