Pedagogy Education's new online course, MRSA in the Field: Identification, Treatment, and Prevention, was developed specifically for EMTs and paramedics.

The course helps EMS professionals recognize common MRSA presentations—including skin infections that may initially appear minor—as well as warning signs of systemic involvement. It also examines how MRSA is transmitted and the particular exposure risks found in ambulances, equipment, and multi-facility patient transport.

Just as importantly, the course turns that knowledge into practical prevention. Learners review Standard Precautions, appropriate PPE use, hand hygiene, wound containment, cleaning versus disinfection, ambulance decontamination, and post-exposure procedures.

The course provides 1 contact hour and is approved by the Texas Department of State Health Services.
