Often as I scroll through my social media pages, I see a facility or organization posting pictures of activities held within the facility. The employees and residents are obviously happy and having fun with the activity-but I always wonder:
- Do the residents in the picture know they are being posted to social media?
- Has the home formally asked for permission to post the images?

But, if their employees are not careful of their posting behaviors — including taking photos with patients in the background or revealing the backs of desks or computer screens — HIPAA violations ensue.
