Stedline IV, Pediatric & PICC Sleeves

Adhesive tape is a unique piece of medical equipment because it is almost never washed or sterilized after initial opening of the package. In addition, a roll of tape may be used by and for many individuals and thereby become exposed to several patients and clinicians. Moreover, a roll is typically manipulated by a doctor, nurse, or other health care worker using ungloved hands. Finally, adhesive tape is applied in close contact to the intravascular insertion site for extended periods.

Stedline by Redpoint International set out to find a better alternative. Stedline IV, Pediatric & PICC Sleeves - Patient Comfort & Safety with NO Negative Skin Outcomes!

Advanced Securement for Infusion Sites

The Stedline devices are easy to use, disposable, primary tubing stabilization devices that reduce the risk of IV failure due to movement. They are same-patient reusable. If an IV exceeds its dwell time, or needs to be reseated, the patient can reuse the same Sleeve with another line set avoiding any additional cost to maintain stabilization.

Appropriate Patient Populations

The Stedline devices are best used in patient populations with the highest risks of complications or failures. That includes disoriented, agitated or combative patients, geriatric, fragile, hypoallergenic and diaphoretic skin where adhesives fails. Also, compromised skin, burns, cuts & abrasions. Patients being transported have high incidents of dislodgement which includes maternity and emergency transport, domestic and military, where body fluids & time constraints make securement extremely difficult.

Product Qualities

About the device - The Sleeves are made of a soft, breathable, medical grade material that requires no tape or adhesive which can create subsequent skin integrity issues. It contains no latex or PVCs and can be used on most infusion sites for securement. The Sleeves withstand significantly greater pull force than most tubing. In most cases, the care provider need only release the tension by lifting the tabs and adjusting the tubing. In extreme cases, if IV tubing fails but dislodgement doesn’t occur, the Sleeve will protect the catheter from failure. As a result, the care provider replaces the extension set but does not need to start a new IV site. Please watch the video on our website (www.redpointcorp.com).

Patient, Care Provider & Facility Benefits

We believe the Stedline devices improve patient comfort and security, reduce care provider workloads and provide facilities a significant ROI through reduced costs due to fewer IV complications or failures and improved patient satisfaction scores.

Qualifications

The Stedline devices meet Infusion Nurses Society Standards as “engineered mechanical stabilization devices” (INS Standards of Practice, 2016). The standards also clearly state that tape is not a stabilization device. The Stedline devices have been cleared by the FDA as a 510k exempt devices.
