Northampton Nursing Home Evacuated After Fire

Three residents, including two from the room where the fire broke out, were taken to a local hospital, said Northampton Deputy Fire Chief Timothy McQueston.

The extent of their injuries was not known, he said.

The nursing home did not have anyone available to comment on Saturday night.

Flames were visible through a window on the third floor of the facility when firefighters arrived, McQueston said.

The sprinkler system was activated. The fire, which was reported at 12:10 a.m., was extinguished by 12:30 a.m., McQueston said.

About 32 of the home’s 100 residents were relocated, until the area of the fire was cleaned, McQueston said.

He credited staff at the nursing home with taking quick action.
