Mother sentenced to 6 years for deliberately contaminating IV Bag

Candida Fluty, 35, of Kermit, West Virginia, pleaded guilty to child endangerment charges.

She was caught on camera taking her sick nine-year-old son's colostomy bag and removing feces from it and then using a syringe to inject it into his IV.

The mom of four wept in court as she was handed the child-endangerment charge on Wednesday following an agreement with prosecutors.

During the case, prosecutors said she put fecal matter into her son's IV while he was at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center on January 16.

This caused his fever to spike and her actions could have killed the child, Hamilton County Assistant Prosecutor Anne Flanagan said.

Adding: 'Without the assistance of Children's Hospital it could have been much, much worse.'
