Louisiana Licensure by Endorsement and IV Education Requirements

LPN’s wanting to move to Louisiana and practice nursing will be required to apply for a license by endorsement.  Louisiana is not a member of the NLC ( Nurse Licensure Compact) or sometimes called a Compact state.

The following video from the National Council of State Boards of Nursing explain further the Nurse Licensure Compact.  This video overview of the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) explains the difference between single state and multistate licensure. Learn what states are compact states and registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical/vocational nurses (LPN/VNs) that are eligible for a multistate nursing.

It is ILLEGAL to practice practical nursing in the state of Louisiana without a temporary work permit issued by our board or a current Louisiana LPN license.

Licensure as an LPN in another state does not guarantee that you will be granted a license to practice in Louisiana. You may click here to view the requirements for endorsement for an LPN license.
