Florida Nurse License Renewal: Continuing Education Requirements
Both Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) in Florida are required to complete continuing education (CE) for biennial license renewal. These requirements are defined in Chapter 64B9-5, Florida Administrative Code to ensure nurses remain current with clinical knowledge, professional standards, and legal responsibilities.
How Many Hours Are Required?
- One contact hour per calendar month of the licensure cycle
- Total: 24 contact hours per biennium
- Mandatory courses in specific areas are required in addition to general CE hours
