A Childs Cancer Story Inspires Taylor Swift

Gut wrenching, exhausting, devastating...and helpless. Those might be the words that come to mind when thinking about your child facing a diagnosis of cancer, and a future of chemotherapy.

What can you do to help? Taylor Swift, the singer who actually looks like an angel come down to earth, decided to help by writing a song, and performing it at the Stand up to Cancer telethon on September 7. The song is called “Ronan.” Ronan Thompson was a 3-year-old boy from Phoenix, with amazingly blue eyes, that died from neuroblastoma on May 9, 2011. Taylor learned of Ronan’s story by reading “Rockstar Ronan,” a blog written by Ronan’s mother, Maya.

Maya had no idea that Taylor had written a song about Ronan. Taylor called Maya, telling her she had been reading her blog for over a year, and was so moved that she wrote a song about Ronan, and wanted to give Maya writing credit, since the song was based on Maya’s blog. The song has quickly moved to No. 1 on the iTunes chart, and all of the royalties are going to various cancer charities.
