The Workplace Violence Prevention for Health Care Workers is a course designed to assist health care professionals in understanding the definition of violence, the prevalence of violence in health care settings, and interventions that can be implemented to increase workplace safety. This course helps the health care professional identify potential risk factors of violence, hazards in the workplace, and interventions that can de-escalate possible violent instances. The health care professional will learn the responsibilities of the employer and employee in controlling workplace violence such as fulfilling training obligations and developing a workplace violence prevention program. Also, the health care professional will learn specific communication techniques that can help prevent escalating encounters and dangerous situations.
