This online inservice is designed to educate CNAs on recognition and treatment of mental illness. Mental illness, also called mental health disorders, refers to a wide range of mental health conditions — disorders that affect your mood, thinking, and behavior. Many people have mental health concerns from time to time, but a mental health concern becomes a mental illness when ongoing signs and symptoms cause frequent stress and affect your ability to function. In fact, nearly half of Americans will meet the criteria for mental illness at some point during their lifetime. Despite this, the majority of Americans with a mental illness remain untreated due to the long-standing stigma surrounding mental health. One of the best ways to combat this stigma is through education.
