Super Bowl and Sex Trafficking: A Case Study

The purpose of this course is to educate nurse professionals on sex trafficking victim identification. The nurse will become knowledgeable of human trafficking impact in the United States. The course will bring to light how large sporting events like the Super Bowl, impact the rates of human sex trafficking. The nurse will know how to identify potential victims of sex trafficking and how to assess and care for them. The course will discuss what health services are needed in the recovery of sex trafficking victims and what needs to be done going forward in the prevention of human sex trafficking.

Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Explain the definition of human trafficking and related statistics.
  2. State the implications of the major sporting event the “Super Bowl” on human trafficking.
  3. Discuss the example of the City of Atlanta Georgia’s response to combating human trafficking.
