Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  2. Describe the physiologic changes of aging that can affect how a medication is absorbed, distributed, metabolized, and eliminated to increase understanding of the complexities of geriatric pharmacology.
  3. Explain how various medication classes are used in long-term care, understanding their mechanisms, uses, and risks to better manage and optimize therapeutic outcomes for older adults.
  4. Recognize Medication combinations that may have adverse effects/interactions with commonly used medications for older adults.
