Bioterrorism Events

The purpose of this continuing education program is to inform and educate healthcare providers on the factors of bioterrorism events. Biological agents are organisms or toxins that can kill or incapacitate people, livestock and crops. A biological attack is the deliberate release of germs or other biological substances that can make many people sick. This course will give the healthcare provider information about a biological attack that may or may not be immediately obvious. In most  cases  local healthcare providers will report a pattern of unusual illness or there will be a wave of sick people seeking emergency medical attention. This course will explain the process of how the public would be alerted through an emergency system. The healthcare provider will gain information about some of the most common agents that could be used in a bioterrorism event.
