Intravenous Nutrient Therapies: Myers’ Cocktail

Throughout the nation we are seeing a trend of infusions, sometimes called “IV drips,” being performed in alternative care settings: doctor’s offices, med spas, and mobile IV units.  These nutritional therapies are being used to treat medical conditions, enhance the immune system, detoxification, dehydration, performance enhancement for athletes, and even hangovers.  Although these infusions are generally considered safe there are potential side effects as well as potential complications from peripheral intravenous therapy. This course will focus on the nutritional therapy called the “Myers’ Cocktail,” the history of the infusion, studies available and a review of the safe administration of this therapy.
