Pulmonary Embolism

The purpose of this continuing education program is to inform and educate healthcare providers on the recognition of presenting signs and symptoms that may suggest a diagnosis of pulmonary embolism. The course will highlight the diagnosis process and treatment options with discussion of the medications for acute treatment and long-term prevention. Patient education is an important part of the treatment plan including importance uninterrupted medication use and prevention techniques.

Objectives

Upon conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify the signs and symptoms of PE.
  2. Describe the diagnosis process used in patients with suspected PE.
  3. Develop a treatment plan of currently available medications.
  4. Assess the patient’s knowledge of prevention techniques for PE.
